MomoCon (May 2025)
MomoCon
May 24th, 2025
Atlanta, GA
This year marked my third MomoCon.
I heard about MomoCon long before the pandemic during the “Before Times,” but I was never able to attend because it always coincided with the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival and Atlanta Jazz Festival. This changed in 2023 after I attended an Adobe event where I happened to be wearing a Killua hoodie. A wonderful woman named Michelle approached me after spotting the nerd in the crowd (me, lol) and asked if I had ever attended. I told her, “No, but I always wanted to,” and little did I know she was one of the directors for MomoCon Volunteering. She asked if I was interested in volunteering some of my photo services. I said, “Sure!” and the rest is history. This is my third year working as a volunteer in Volunteer Communications.
Speaking of which, MomoCon Volunteering still needs people for next year, so consider submitting your application. There’s a good chance you’ll be approved (although you may want to submit early to get into the department that interests you the most). Check out how to do so here: https://www.momocon.com/volunteers/
Anyway, this year was a great time. MomoCon is a proper convention with a ton of solid panels and programming. If panels are your thing, you’ll definitely find a few that will pique your interest, as they are diverse and plentiful. I spent most of my time floating between the Exhibition Hall, Gaming Hall, and Courtyard, where I spent time with most of my ATL geek family and friends from out of town.
Also shoutout to TrapSushi. This year was a major upgrade from 2024 and it felt closer to the TrapSushis I’ve attended in the past at Monday Night Garage. They definitely listened to all the feedback offered and provided us with a solid experience. Big ups.
I usually take an L on some gear at most cons so shoutout to whoever returned one of my camera filters to Lost and Found. I didn’t get to have fun with some of my shots because it was missing but I still love my captures.
As always, if we met for the first time, DON’T BE A STRANGER! If you see me out and bout and recognize me, say wassup! I’ll do the same! Don’t hesitate to reach out on IG as well. It was a pleasure meeting you all.
